Crispy, cinnamon-sweet apple fries made in the air fryer for an easy snack or dessert. Serve them warm with caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt for dipping.

Equipment

  • air fryer
  • cutting board
  • Knife
  • Mixing bowls
  • tongs

Instructions

  • Wash the apples, then peel them if desired. Core the apples and cut them into fry-like wedges about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Place the apple slices in a bowl and toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  • Set up three shallow bowls: one with the flour, one with the beaten eggs, and one with the panko breadcrumbs mixed with cinnamon, sugar, and salt.
  • Working one piece at a time, coat each apple slice in flour, dip it into the egg, then press it into the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes, if needed. Lightly spray the coated apple fries with cooking spray or brush with a little oil.
  • Arrange the apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving a little space between pieces. Cook in batches if needed.
  • Air fry for 6 to 8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp on the outside and tender on the inside.
  • Serve warm with caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt, if desired.

Notes

Use firm apples so the fries hold their shape during cooking. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket, and cook in batches if necessary for the crispiest results.
