Crispy, golden fried mozzarella made on the Blackstone griddle with a seasoned breadcrumb coating and a melty cheese center. Serve it hot with marinara sauce for an easy appetizer or snack.

Equipment

  • Blackstone griddle
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • shallow bowls
  • Spatula
  • paper towel-lined plate

Instructions

  • Place the halved mozzarella sticks on a tray and freeze for 30 minutes so they stay firm during frying.
  • Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with the eggs and milk whisked together, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
  • Dredge each mozzarella piece in flour, then dip it into the egg mixture, and coat thoroughly with the seasoned breadcrumbs. For a thicker crust, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating one more time.
  • Freeze the breaded mozzarella pieces for 15 to 20 minutes while you preheat the Blackstone griddle to medium heat and add enough oil to cover the bottom lightly.
  • When the oil is hot, carefully place the mozzarella pieces on the griddle and fry for 30 to 60 seconds per side, turning gently until golden brown all over. Work in batches and avoid overcrowding.
  • Remove the fried mozzarella to a paper towel-lined plate to drain briefly.
  • Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

Keep the mozzarella well frozen before frying to help prevent leaking. Fry in small batches for the crispiest coating and the best cheese pull. Serve immediately after cooking for the best texture.
