Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups chocolate chips, semi-sweet and dark mix
  • Optional: Flaky sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream softened butter with granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and scrape the sides of the bowl.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix on low until just combined.
  • Gently fold in chocolate chips with a spatula until evenly distributed.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared sheets, spaced 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 9-12 minutes until edges are golden and centers are slightly soft.
  • Cool on sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For thicker biscuits, chill the dough for 30 minutes or overnight. For gluten-free options, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free baking blend.
