These creepy deviled eggs are a fun and easy Halloween appetizer with a spooky black filling and olive "eyes". They're classic deviled eggs with a festive twist that makes them perfect for parties.

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Mixing bowl
  • fork or potato masher
  • Knife
  • Serving plate
  • piping bag or spoon

Instructions

  • Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water by about 1 inch. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then cover, turn off the heat, and let sit for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Transfer the eggs to an ice bath and cool completely. Peel the eggs carefully.
  • Slice each egg in half lengthwise and gently remove the yolks into a bowl. Arrange the egg whites on a serving plate.
  • Mash the yolks with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, vinegar, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika until smooth and creamy. If using black food coloring, add a tiny amount at a time until the filling reaches a spooky gray-black color.
  • Spoon or pipe the filling back into the egg whites.
  • Top each deviled egg with olive slices to create creepy eyes or spider-like decorations. Sprinkle lightly with paprika and add chopped chives or parsley if desired.
  • Chill for at least 15 minutes before serving, or serve immediately if preferred.

Notes

For the smoothest filling, mash or blend the yolk mixture until completely creamy before piping. The black food coloring is optional, but it helps create a dramatic Halloween look.
