Equipment

  • Oven
  • large baking sheet
  • Mixing bowl
  • serving platter
  • Spatula

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and lightly grease a large baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on the baking sheet and bake according to package directions until golden and crispy, about 20 to 25 minutes, flipping halfway through if needed.
  • Remove the tater tots from the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  • Return the tots to the oven for 2 to 3 minutes, just until the cheese is melted.
  • Transfer the cheesy tater tots to a serving platter and top with crumbled bacon, sliced green onions, and a drizzle of ranch dressing.
  • In a small bowl, mix the sour cream with garlic powder and black pepper, then serve it on the side or dollop it over the top.
  • Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

For extra crispiness, do not overcrowd the baking sheet. You can swap cheddar for a cheddar-jack blend or add diced jalapeños for heat.
