These simple homemade dog treats are made with pumpkin, oats, and peanut butter for a wholesome snack your pup will love. They are easy to shape, bake, and store for later.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place the rolled oats in a food processor and pulse until they resemble a coarse flour. Add them to a mixing bowl along with the oat flour.
Stir in the pumpkin puree, egg, and peanut butter until a thick dough forms. If the dough feels too dry, add the water a little at a time. If it feels too sticky, add a bit more oat flour.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll it to about 1/4-inch thickness.
Cut into small dog-friendly shapes using a cookie cutter or knife, then place the treats on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the treats are firm and lightly golden around the edges.
Let the treats cool completely before serving to your dog. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
Make sure the peanut butter is xylitol-free, as xylitol is toxic to dogs. Add only enough water to bring the dough together, and dust with extra oat flour if the dough becomes too sticky.
