Ingredients

Dough
  • 1 cup salted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips 12 oz

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking sheets
  • parchment paper
  • Medium bowl
  • Electric Mixer
  • Cooling Rack

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius) and line three baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt, then set aside.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and both sugars in a large bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the pure vanilla extract and mix until just combined.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined and no flour streaks remain.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the cookie dough.
  7. Roll 2-3 Tablespoons of dough into balls and place them evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for approximately 8-10 minutes in the preheated oven, removing them when they are just barely starting to turn brown.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Notes

Do not overbake the cookies; they should be just barely starting to turn brown for a soft, chewy texture. Allowing them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes helps them set before transferring to a cooling rack.
